K-Othrine SC 7.5 Flow, 25 ml

K-Othrine SC 7.5 Flow is a broad-spectrum insecticide, containing 7.5 g/L deltamethrin, designed for the control of a wide range of domestic and industrial insect pests. Insects that can be controlled include Dictyoptera ( Cockroaches ), Hymenoptera ( Wasps and Ants), Diptera ( Flies ), Siphonaptera ( Fleas ), Hemiptera (Bed Bugs), Lepidoptera (Moths), Coleoptera (Beetles), Thysanura (Silverfish), Psocoptera (Booklice).

K-Othrine SC 7.5 Flow is a suspension concentrate that is, a particulate suspension of solid deltamethrin particles in water. The insecticide particles, although of a size similar to the finest emulsion, are not readily absorbed into surfaces. They remain exposed on the surface, like a wettable powder to maintain a viable and sustained insecticidal effect. Unlike a wettable powder, however, the particles are not visible and are non-staining.

K-Othrine SC 7.5 Flow is therefore a product that acts like a wettable powder in terms of residuality but can be handled with the ease and convenience offered by a liquid. K-Othrine SC 7.5 Flow ensures a fast penetration of the insect cuticle (outer shell), resulting in the observable effect of insect flush out, knockdown, and kill.

With any residual or surface spray treatment, the objective is to control insect populations over a period of time, by depositing a film of insecticide on surfaces where insects are known to forage, rest or reproduce.

The duration of the residual effect of a surface spray insecticide treatment depends upon the surface onto which the insecticide is being applied. K-Othrine SC 7.5 Flow is compatible with many different surfaces such as wood, glass, metal, and fabric. However, on highly porous substances such as concrete and wood, liquid insecticides can be absorbed into the material and therefore become unavailable to any insect that contacts that surface. With such porous materials, however, K-Othrine SC 7.5 Flow will be absorbed less than emulsifiable concentrates and even some wettable powders and so exhibit greater residual activity and provide reliable control even in such difficult circumstances.

Biological Activity

K-Othrine SC 7.5 Flow acts against insects by contact (and, to a lesser extent by ingestion through grooming). The mode of action of K-Othrine SC 7.5 Flow is based on the nervous system of insects, the results of which give rise to the observable effects commonly described as flush out and knockdown.

The initial effect of K-Othrine SC 7.5 Flow causes stimulation of the insect nerves, which gives rise to excitable and uncoordinated motion of the insect. This is known as flush out.

The second effect is a complete blockage of the insect's central motor system, resulting in total paralysis. This paralysis is known as a knockdown. These effects are most effectively demonstrated by modern pyrethroids such as deltamethrin, one of the most potent insecticides available to pest control professionals. K-Othrine SC 7.5 Flow acts rapidly, with good flush out effects, and with normal doses, 50% of the insects present during treatment should be knocked down in under 15 minutes (KT 50).

K-Othrine SC 7.5 Flow is prepared for spraying by simply adding to water and stirring. It is very easy to mix. The spray liquid can be applied to surfaces with any suitable hand or mechanical sprayer capable of producing a coarse wetting spray.

Unlike some wettable powders, the solution is free-flowing and will not block spray nozzles. On a porous surface, twice the volume should be applied but at half the dilution rate to allow for the absorbency of the surface (see table). In all cases, spraying should continue until the area being treated is visibly wet without the liquid running off.
